VEGETABLE SOUP

This week we have been making vegetable soup. It is a really easy way to make a warming lunch or dinner. We put carrots, red onion, leek, tomatoes and courgettes in our soup. This is what we did.

1. Get a large pan of boiling water and crumble 2 vegetable stock cubes in it. Leave it on the cooker.

2. Wash all of the vegetables.

3. Cut up the carrot and put it into the boiling water.

4. Cut up the red onion and put it into the pan.

5. Cut up the leek and put it into the pan.

6. Cut up the courgette and put it into the pan.

7. Squeeze some tomato puree into the soup (1 tablespoon)

8. Cook for about 15 mintures, until all of the vegetables are soft.

Did you enjoy then soup? Did your parents try the soup, and if so, what did they think of it.

Has anyone made their own soup at home with different vegetables?

VEGETABLE KEBABS

This week we made vegetable kebabs. This is a really healthy way to try to help us eat 5 a day. This is how you do it:

1. Choose some vegetables that you like - they can be red or yellow peppers, onion, courgettes, red onion, mushrooms, cheery tomatoes or any other vegetable that you like.
2. Wash the vegetables and prepare.
3. Cut the vegetables into bite-sized pieces.
4. Get some bamboo kebab skewers (available in all large supermarkets) and thread the vegetables onto the sticks.
5. Cook the kebabs in the oven or under the grill until the vegetables are tender.

If you like meat, you can add chicken, beef or pork to the kebabs too. Just make sure that it is cooked before eating.

MAKING FRUIT SALAD

Yesterday we made fruit salad in cookery club. This is how we made it.

Get the ingredients:
Pineapple, Mango, Strawberry, Raspberry, Orange, Kiwi fruit.

Prepare all of the fruit by peeling and chopping into small pieces, making sure that you keep your fingers away from the blade of the knife.

Put all of the ingredients into a bowl. Mix together and then eat.

We put yoghurt on the top of ours to make it extra yummy!

At home you can add all different kinds of fruit to make your own fruit salad.

Did you enjoy making the fruit salad? How did it taste?
