VALENTINE TREATS!!

As it was Valentines day this week, we decided to make some valentine treats. We made orange shortbread, although you can make these cookies into any shape to suit the time of year.

Here is the basic recipe:
1. Turn the oven onto 190C or Gas Mark 5.
2. Beat together 115g butter and 50g caster sugar until soft and creamy.
3. Add the rind of 2 oranges.
4. Gradually add 175g plain flour and form a soft dough.
5. Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to 1cm thick. Cut out the cookies using a cutter.
6. Place cookies onto a baking sheet and then cook for about 20 minutes in the oven.

These cookies can be enjoyed at home, or can be placed in the lunchboix as a yummy treat.

Chocolate Crispy Cakes

This week we made a sweet treat - Chocolate Crispy cakes. These are a really nice treat to put in lunchboxes, and are so easy to make.
1. Melt some chocolate, either in the microwave or in a bowl resting in a saucepan of boiling water.
2. Add rice krispies to the melted chocolate. Not too many though, as they will not be very chocolatey otherwise.
3. We then added some raisins.
4. Scoop the mixture into small cake cases.
5. Leave to set for 5 minutes, and then enjoy.

Remember, these cakes are delicious, and its ok to enjoy them as a treat, but we should not eat them every day. Why not make some and swap your usual chocolate biscuit in your lunchbox for a delicious crispy cake.
