Slurpy Pasta

This week we made delicious pasta. It was a hot dish with a tomato paste base. This is how you can make it.
1. Boil some water in a saucepan and then add the pasta.

2. While it is cooking, cut up some vegetables. We used red onion, orange pepper, mushroom and tomatoes.

3. Once these are chopped, cook them in a separate pan in a little oil until tender.

4. Add some tinned sweetcorn and some tomato puree once the vegetables are soft. Cook until all the ingredients are warmed.

5. Drain the pasta. Then pour it into a large mixing bowl.

6. Add the vegetable mix and stir until all of the pasta is coated in the sauce.

7. Sprinkle with a little grated cheese and then serve.

You could add other vegetables or some cooked meat if you like this idea.

Weclome to Cookery Club - Summer 2009

Last week we made vegetable soup. This is a lovely easy recipe. You can actually use any vegetable in it.
We chose the following:
Sweetcorn (tinned)
Courgette
Mushroom
Cherry tomatoes
Onion
Red pepper
Carrot

Here is how to do it:
Boil a saucepan with about 200ml of water. Add a tin of chopped tomatoes and a vegetarrian stock cube.
Add the chopped onion and carrot first, as this takes longest to cook.
Add the other vegetables one by one, chopping into small bite-sized pieces
Finish by adding about 1 tablespoon of tomato puree for taste.
Cook for about 20 minutes on a gentle heat and then serve.

Remember you can use any vegetables. Have a go and let us know what your soup was like.
